Primary Function:

Under the general direction of the Branch Manager, Onsite Operations, this position provides a focused oversight of the Tool Management Program, including, but not limited to:  Tool Check-in / Check-out, Tool Repair tracking, and training of SSRs in Tool Cribs.   Additionally, the Tool Coordinator will capitalize on sales opportunities, create customer loyalty, and exceed customer expectations by using their guidance, knowledge, computer acumen, and winning attitude. Tool Coordinators are expected to have excellent all-around communication skills as well as the ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Ownership of the entire customer experience related to the Tool Program. This includes appropriate product selection, accurate order entry and maintenance, accurately and safely picking product, and safely loading customer vehicle as needed.
  • Consistently performs actions with branch sales focus to capitalize on sales opportunities and encourage customer loyalty to deliver revenue targets.
  • Coordinate and partner with Vendor representatives to conduct in-person training and education within Tool Crib locations.
  • Promote Company products and services to customers and provide substitutions where required
  • Maintain a well-rounded knowledge of products and tools sold including the completion of the required certification and the channels in which Suncor transacts.
  • Processing customer transactions at a tool crib or store location.
  • Providing customer updates when required on delivery, lead times, quotes, etc.
  • Collaborating with Suncor BU on Tool Program/product updates in Tool Cribs
  • Conducting day-to-day execution of the Tool Management Program
  • Adhere to mutually agreed upon cadence of Tool Program reporting to Suncor BU
  • Regular monitoring and follow-up of tools out for repair with Grainger Services, and other 3rd Party service providers
  • Collection and relocation of Tools returned to incorrect locations, minimum twice weekly
  • Processing customer Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)/Purchase Order (PO) transactions and coordinating with Suncor BU on any required adjustments.
  • Service the customer’s specific Tool-related needs
  • Lead continuous improvement (CI) team meetings and CI on-site initiatives that identify additional efficiencies in the Tool Program
  • Learn and easily navigate through various computer systems and applications for customer facing and warehousing activities.
  • Agility to shift focus seamlessly from assisting customers to other various branch tasks specific to Suncor Operations.
  • Maintain knowledge and ensure compliance of Grainger and Suncor specific Life-saving rules, courses and site safety training
  • Perform housekeeping duties as needed to ensure branch appearance meets Grainger standards
  • Take and respond to emergency customer calls after hours with the ability to work extended hours including evenings and weekends, as business needs may require.

Job Requirements

Preferred Education & Experience: 

  • Highschool Diploma or equivalent preferred. 1-3 years of experience in related field preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean drivers abstract is required.
  • Strong knowledge/experience with industrial tools used onsite.
  • The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, taking action to achieve goals beyond what is required.
  • Previous experience and/or knowledge of industrial and/or safety products is preferred
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic, “wowing the customer”, and personal commitment to get the job done
  • Team player with an ability of working independently while managing multiple tasks.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, with proven ability to adhere to tight deadlines
  • Proficient computer skills and aptitude
  • Knowledge of dangerous goods and WHMIS regulations is required

  • Successful and timely completion of initial and ongoing training as required
  • Other branch support duties as assigned according to business needs

Work Environment:  

  • Onsite Tool Program Support
  • Shift schedules
    • Mon to Friday 8 hr days. This position does have the potential to move to a 7 on 7 off, 12 hour days with minimal notice, should the needs of the business require. 
  • Drug & Alcohol testing required before access to Suncor site is granted.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced changing environment.
  • Ability to work in a position requiring:
    • Continuous standing and walking.
    • Physical requirements may include reaching, grasping, climbing, standing and bending.
    • Ability to lift up to 50lbs unassisted on a regular basis
    • Ability to safely learn and operate powered industrial equipment as needed
